More magnetic swatches-Nails Inc

Every single day since I got my magnetic nail polish pack I have been trying all the colors, and they really are fabulous. Here I have a picture of the Nails Inc trio, which still should be available at some Sephora locations. The bottles when sold individually come with a magnet each, and cost 16$, but the trio comes with three polishes and one magnet for $30. I went for the trio obviously. I also have included a shot of the turquoise which is called Whitehall. I'm sorry for the poor image quality, I may have woken up after a night of debauchery to see that it fell in the kitty's water bowl. FML. Can't wait for that Suri upgrade!

New Year, new nail polish addiction-MAGNETIC

Okay, so believe it or not this idea has been around for a while and really never picked up. Since I have seen it on the internets, I requested magnetic nail polish for my holiday present- and santa did not disappoint! I have the LCN entire collection LCNUSA.com and the Nails Inc Magnetic trio, available at Sephora.

For this post I will show you photos of the entire LCN collection, which comes with a star and stripes magnet to make the different designs. I am also showing you a swatch of my favorite color in the collection, they don't have names on the bottles- but according to the website its called Fuchsia attraction. Anyway it is an awesome purple pink loveliness that people stopped me at a party to oogle over. I love the whole set, but its definitely my favorite color.

In case you don't know what this magnetic nail polish is- well its my new obsession, thats number one- but its a nail polish with magnetic particles inside that, when used with magnets shaped to a design, can create cool designs on your nails. All of the polishes have a shimmery affect, and so far you can make a star design, stripes design (using LCN magnets) or a wavy stripes design (using Nails Inc).

First, you put your base coat and let dry, then you put your 1st coast of nail polish and either let dry, or put the magnet just above your nail to show the design. You are supposed to use two coats and let the first dry without using the magnet, but I always end up trying on the first coat because I change my polish so much and because I use so many base coats to keep my nails from peeling.

I find that this is a tricky skill, I often put the magnet too far down and mess up the whole deal, you must be careful and move quickly. The nail polish dries fast, but not too fast- so you must hold the magnet on top of your nail for a whole minute at least in order to keep the design looking crisp. I found that when I move too quickly, the lines tend to get fuzzy.

Daily Manicure: 7/16/11

While walking around Friday in NYC, I stumbled upon llamasqua's Poke ( a slightly muted but beautiful purple w shimmer) in a Sephora in Chelsea. I decided to paint over my blue shatter and white, because I had had it on for more than a day, and as I said in my last post, I didn't like how the white got distorted.

Aside from the fact that my ghetto ass didn't buy anything from Sephora and simply did a whole manicure, it actually came out half decent. Usually tester polishes are clumpy, and this one was bit clumpy also, but for the circumstances, I wanted to share the color and swatch. These are $14 dollars a bottle, so be prepared to hand over a larger chunk of change for these.

I also want to add that while at Sephora, I noticed that they have brought out red, turqouise and navy blue "blasted" shatter colors. They also have come out with new lines of nail stickers similar to their other ones called "nail bling", some of them have sparkles and lines and are clear at the same time, so you can paint your nails then put them on for a really cool design. They now have loose glitter in several colors, and NAIL ART PENS. I didn't get a chance to write down all of the prices of each new item, but its a fairly new thing, so go to Sephora ASAP to check it out. They probably range from $6-10, maybe even more. Also, if I were a betting woman I would put my money that they aren't the best quality, especially the stickers. The girl I babysit tried the nail pen, and actually it looked really cool, so I'll have to get one and draw obscene images for you guys.

Manicure of the day-July 14 Color Club fractured blue

So like I said earlier crackle/shatter/fractured/frictured/broken/whatever polishes are being made by every single nail polish brand imaginable. Only a handful of companies have stayed behind and have not released a shatter-like collection. Yesterday's manicure was Color Club's Blue Shatter over orly white, and although it looked bomb in the beginning, I do have to say that I didn't wait long enough for the white to dry- or maybe didn't put enough white layers on my nails, because I noticed that the white looked yellowish or dirty in some spots.

I love the Color Club shatter formula, I own two shatters that I found at a local beauty supply store here in Astoria, and I have to say they both Shatter like crazy in every which way possible. When I ventured into Manhattan today with the girls I babysit, we found a small beauty supply store called Essentials on 5th avenue by around 18th street/19th street. They had the Color Club collection, but they didn't have the Fuchsia and blue I bought (picture below). This makes me think that the full color club shatter collection is bigger than this one.

Crackle is EVERYWHERE

Hi all

I know its been a million years since I have been posting regularly or relevant information. I work seven days a week now, saving my money for the fall where I won't have enough time to work. In the last few months I have been coming across dozens of different brands that have created crackle, and I wanted to share the information with all of you lovelies because crackle is rad, and I have found many new hot colors that OPI and China Glaze have failed us.

Perhaps the best one I have found, in terms of color variation and price is a small brand called 2012, they retailed at my local beauty store for $3.99 a piece, but they had a wide variety of Neon colors, which I thought was rad. In terms of formula however, they are very smelly, and are not 4-free or 3-free by any means. They go on very well and dry almost immediately. If you have sensitive skin however, or are against the harmful chemicals in some nail polish, these are not for you. They are definitely a cheap brand making a quick profit. Also, I found that you must use the crackles over lighter colors in order to show off their true color potential. I put the blue pictured below over a darker color and it didn't show itself well, rather it appeared as though the two colors mixed together to form a new crackle color.

Walgreens in Times Square has a huge set up of Pure Ice crackles, which retail also retail at 3.99, they have almost every color- except a huge selection of neon colors. They have black, white, gold, silver, a silvery blue, a shimmery yellow. I bought a few for the girls I babysit and they liked them. I went to two other Walgreens in Manhattan and they were either sold out, or half of their small display was gone. The formula, according to my knowledge is NOT 3-free, but I don't have the bottles in front of me, so don't hold me to that. They apply smooth and look really good in my opinion, and they crack really well, with the exception of the silver polish, which cracks slightly different than the others.

Color club is another brand that came out with a good selection of crackle colors, including the hot pink and cobalt blue I purchased happily. I found these at another beauty supply store for $5.99. I feel like I could find them cheaper at another location if I tried, but it was a very spur-of-the-moment buy. These polishes aren't three-free either, but on applying them just as I was creating this post, I have to say they are some of the best cracking crackles out there. The picture below will show you, compared to 2012, they crack much more frequently, and I didn't even manipulate the brush! I simply brushed on.

Sally Hansen Crackle: Distressed denim

I have been calling every CVS, Walgreens, Duane reade and whatever else in NYC asking when they will get the Sally Hansen Crackle overcoats in. FINALLY I found one sort of close to my house that carries it. I put the distressed denim over Finger paints Winter wishes ( I wore it at my wedding woot) it looks cool, definitely in love with the color, and the price- only $7 compared to $9 or $15 that Rickysnyc.com is charging for the OPI blue shatters.

My favorite Manicure: Sephora L16 & Wild about Shimmer

I was killing time at Sephora when I saw a BEAUTIFUL cobalt blue sample with micro Gold glitter on top. After asking every employee at the store with no avail, I figured out that it was the combination of the Sephora mini nail polish L16, a beautiful cobalt bright blue, with Wild about Shimmer, which is OPI for Sephora. Its a clear polish with micro glitter. Basically it almost looks like turquoise stone with Gold pieces in it. LOVE IT

China Glaze Purple Crackle

This was a great manicure, I put the matte purple crackle on top of a simple shine-free ivory nail polish. The great thing about a manicure with the crackle polish is that it can mess up and it still looks normal. This manicure did chip quickly because my mani's always do, but I thought I would share it with you anyway because its a good color combo without looking too juvenile. This wouldn't look so good with darker colors, think light cremes or light neutrals, or you could go with sparkle hot blue or something similar, but honestly, if you match it with hot pink or electric blue, it almost looks like it should be worn by an eight year old. back from the dead INCOCO nail stickers!

I'm terribly sorry I haven't been keeping up with this little blog of mine. I could give you a million excuses, school,not giving a fuck , work, but honestly I've been busy and not really busy at the same time but haven't been feeling 100% to post. I WILL deliver nail polish on a daily basis from now on.

Today I want to talk about nail stickers by Incoco, you have to buy them online which is lame, but they are pretty much dupes to Sally Hansen nail stickers but more malleable. They move with ease, and applied really easy with just a nail file, I didn't need scissors at all, which is rare for my klutzy self. They also come in a zillion AWESOME designs, unlike anything anybody will ever see ever, so you will definitely get compliments about these babies. China Glaze Crackle + Katy Perry OPI collection colors

I'm having a rough day today- rough end to a long rough week! So to cheer me up I played a little with a few nail polishes I had on my person. I brought the China Glaze crackle polishes Pink (broken hearted) and purple (Fault Line) and Katy Perry by OPI's Last friday night ( blueish clear with sparkles) and Teenage dream (pinkish clear with sparkles). I did two combos that I thought would look cool, the Last friday night with fault line on top, I tried to move the crackle around, painting it horizontally and vertically and every which way to see how it affected the crackle effect, but overall I ended up not liking the color combination, i'd much rather like to see a contrast here, but the Last Friday Night didn't show through as much as I wanted, maybe I should put a white base underneath.

The second color combo I did was the Teenage Dream with China Glaze's Broken Hearted on top. it looked rad enough for me to keep it on for the night. From afar it simply looks like hot pink, but then the shiny sparkly comes out through from underneath pretty nicely. I must try other combinations soon- any suggestions?

MAC- Bad Fairy

Mac- Bad Fairy tricked me. For those of you who may not know it was a Disney special edition where they made Cruella de ville and that witch from Sleeping beauty polishes, lipsticks and what not. They were pretty cool actually, better than the few mac collectors addition polishes and products that came after. ALL of the swatches looked so cool online, I called up all of the mac stores in Manhattan and none of them had them EXCEPT the booth in Macys on the fourth floor- because only a crazy person like me would go that far to see if they had it. I went there, spent my money, and put it on that night, really excited that the red and pink holo glitters would stand out a mile away to anyone who saw my nails. But when I put them on my tips- I was pretty disappointed, the color is just too light for my skin.. or something. Maybe I need to put a red tone underneath? Thoughts? Ideas?

OPI-I'm not really a Waitress

SO I have heard this color all over, supposed to be one of the biggest OPI colors. When I came across the bottle, I thought to myself that it reminded me of Sephora by OPI (go figure) curve-acious. The red tone and Glitter looked EXACTLY like the Sephora bottle I own (and would wear over and over and over two summers ago). So here are some day-shots of I'm not really a waitress. I think its a lovely color, perhaps too strong for my skin tone, plus I definitely out-wore a dupe of this two summers ago, when I was all about the Sephora polishes.

Blue on Blue crackle

So on st. Patricks day I bought myself some rad tights (Hue tights at rickys, they were on sale!) some hair bands and Butter London's Blagger, from their spring Collection. This is truely an Amazing blue, I love it so much. Its a medium hue, bright cobalt. I wore it all day yesterday, and then I got a tear in my left thumb, so I fixed it using a silk wrap, but today I realized that it broke AGAIN. The tear is so close to where my skin meets the nail that I can't let it get the best of my nail length, so i had to fix it again.

Here is what i did

I got a tea bag and cut a triangle, cleaned off my nail with polish remover,

I got Crazy glue, but only bc I didn't have any nail glue, and I glued on the piece of tea bag

I waited until it dried, then VERY GENTLY filed it down.

I put two- three coats of base coat, and I'm fixed!

The only thing is, a solid color will show the little bump of the patch, so I decided to paint my Butter London Blue with China Glaze Crushed Candy on top, and now nobody will ever know..
