purple lavender

I really have to admit that this manicure was one of the best i've ever given myself. I used butter london's Muggins, which I thought was more of a blue polish when i bought it at beauty.com's 20% sale. Its a beautiful color and reminds me of an old color i would wear over and over again, only this color doesnt seem to get beat up as much. I used a garlic base coat, two layers of the polish, and an acrylic top coat with sally hansons instant fix. I went around buying a lot of leggings today, and almost everyone i spoke with admired my manicure, So yeah, this color rocks.

dreams with creams. (I know I'm lame)

So after my really long, bad and terrible day my amazing hubby decided to surprise me with flowers and a new nail polish. (Don't act like your not all jealous, hes the best) He said he saw it in the store and that I didn't have anything like it- which means I actually don't. Its by nail hardener, which has a lot of colors and can be found at almost any store but it isn't three-free so don't eat it. The color has a lot of purple with blue shimmer, so in some lights it looks deep purple while in other lights it looks blue. It was very cool but the manicure didn't last well as I did it at like three AM yesterday amongst baking and cooking a chicken and God knows what else. I will combine this with a Konad once I can finally afford a proper set, I think the effect of this polish would be slammin with a red design on top to give it a full-body contrast. The other pics i have up are of my butter haul, a beautiful pinkish creme, one of my all time favorite colors in the history of life. back in the day I used to get my fake tips topped with an Essie lavender like this color, this mani reminds me very much of that color- the problem is if you write a lot in pen the pen gets stuck on it. :/
Anyways, I am super tired today, I have been working since nine and now its twelve thirty. My eyes are falling out of my face and I can't wait to go home, eat, drink and pass out in a pile of my own misery. Or my own money. Whichever is classier

frustrated with frugalista

Okay, so the title of the post may suggest that RBL's frugalista is the source and be all end all of my frustrations today. However, simply stated, I can't deal with today anymore. The truth is, I dont take much responsibility for my own actions, planning things (like my wedding and the fifty thousand parties coming with it... uhoh) or generally making sure that things go smoothly in terms of my life. I love frugalista more than most glitter polishes I own, and I have to say that my manicure still looks bomb although I must have thrown more things than I have ever thrown in my life, traveled up and down manhattan for hours and made more phone calls than I did when I was in telemarketing. Maybe its because glitter polishes enable me to pretend that I am an underground rock star and won't ever have to worry about money problems or being late or ever have to wait on a bus for a hundred year old woman to get on or off in the middle of rush hour, only to deal with awkward robots to tell me that I need to be on-time, not five minutes late.

Anyway, that rant made me feel a lot better, but here are some shots of my rescue beauty lounge haul that came yesterday. And no, I cannot ever spend this much on nail polish again as I have bills coming out the ears at this point.

As per the mani shot, I have a few chips which have only made this entire day so much worse, one tip to all of you is if you do a manicure, find that you often have chips NEVER leave that bottle at home and bring other bottles with you, that way you can fix it if you ever have down time and it will make you feel better.

Rescue beauty has arrived

so, I am still new at being a polish snob, but i read on several blogs about rescue beauty lounges 50% off sale, and I figured the colors are hot so why not. I bought a bunch of polishes, including her book on nailcare and I just got them in the mail and trust me I am NOT disappointed at all. Especially since I paid half price. Aside from Butter polish, I dont think that I have ever ever ever seen a polish go on so well as 360 did on my hands. The cherry love that went on my feet was kind of on the thick side for some reason, which isnt terrible because I can use it for stamping, and all the other polishes I got from her weren't on the thick side. I definitely recommend this brand although at full price its pricey for polishaddicts.

Anyway, heres the website for rescue beauty lounge, if your in nyc they do have an actual salon here, but it has mixed reviews. Either way get the polish bc its super sexy and clean

Konad Amazingness

So, call me cheap but i went online and bought like a bundle of konad like plates for 17$.They aren’t as good as the regular konad plates or so I have heard. Hopefully somebody will buy me a big konad kit for christmas so I can shit my pants and never leave the house again. That would be of course, If anyone anywhere aside from my boyfriend read this thing. Anyway these turned out really nice, It looked like space nails. I loved it

Water Marbling take one

So, you guys may have seen water marbling before on my simple little pleasures, Collete over there does a lot of water marbling and I think shes simply the best. You should check out her site http://mysimplelittlepleasures.blogspot.com/
Anyway, after looking at a few of her tutorials I knew i just had to try this, this was before we moved, almost a month ago now, and it was a mess. I didnt tape my fingers or do anything proper. We had this cat and she jumped right onto everything, and I had a big plate of chicken over rice there too.. so sad, but anyway they aren’t terrible, I still wore it for a day.. i think

I forgot which polishes I used here, but I know that they were both Orly. I’ll update when I get home

Big smoke (butter) and Glitter Mani

I really liked this manicure, i dont know why. Maybe its because I love metallics and I love glitter. I don’t have pics of the glitter polishes for you because i’m at work, but i bought them at a 99c store on Steinway street. They are not 3 free and stink up the house but they are GORGEOUS. I mean several cuts of glitter, its amazing what you can find for super cheap and what you pay for mediocre glitter polishes. The Base color is this amazing blue silvery metallic by Butter London, you can get this for like 11 bucks right now on beauty.com because they are having a great sale, they also have Essie (for like 8 bucks so i don’t recommend it ) and deborah lippmann. So go while you still can

Butter

So I took a walk over to Steinway street where there is a Rickys (I’m so happy I moved to Astoria). The truth is I couldn’t wait to try Butter London nail polish, and boy am I happy I didn’t! Although Beauty.com is having a 20% off sale right now, and free shipping over like, fifty bucks of something, I wanted to snag at least one or two polishes for the week before my order comes. So far I have tried two of the shades, The one I’m wearing now is Queen Vic, its a lovely deep redish purple, similar to a Sephora polish I used to wear day in and out for like, four months last year. Look at the following post to check out Big Smoke- one of my favorite colors of all time. Its a metallic silvery blue and its simply the best.

I should tell you that these polishes are “3-free” polishes, which mean they don’t have formaldehyde or toluene or any other crap that can deprive you of your ability to birth children, fight off cancerous cells or your general will to live. Speaking of 3-free, i stopped by a 99 cent store and bought a couple of polishes there, mainly glitters to top my mani’s, and when I used one with blue smoke (check out the next post for pics) it stunk up my room so bad I had to open up all the windows in my house and hide my cat for fear he’d have an aneurysm or something. Still, one of them is a REALLY nice turquoise.

Anyway, please forgive my manicures, not only am I lazy about it, but I’m pretty positive that I was halfway through my champagne and halal chinese food- and well, you know how it is.

The polishes I bought were Muggins, Queen Vic, Artful dodger and Big smoke, I also bought Matese Lapis, all in all a great haul and beautiful colors, not sure which one I’m going to wear next.
